Open letter to anyone considering Eye Patrol.
I have been in the trucking business as an owner operator for 16 years. I do local hauling
in a large populated area. About two years ago, I became concerned about the possibilities
of being involved in an accident caused by someone else in front of my truck.
I started thinking about video cameras, how one would be mounted in the truck for stability, what would I do with the recorded media, how would I recall an event and how to present
any recording if and when necessary?
After looking at some of the electronic stores, I didn’t see anything that addressed what I
was looking for. It was suggested to me to install power inverter, mount a small video
camera, and add a VHS recorder and a small monitor. I thought this could work.
So, I bought everything and hooked it all up and it worked. I bought several VHS tapes with
the thought I could simply rotate the tapes as I used them and just record over to reuse
them. I would save the one with anything interesting on it.
After two days, the VHS recorder quit working. I bought another recorder and it only lasted
a short time. Both recorders appeared to be the same, just different names on the front.
Well, this is not working to my satisfaction. I quit using it. I still, wanted some way to record
out the front windshield.
In 2006, I attended the Great American Truck Show in Dallas, Texas. I found several
vendors that offered some kind of recording devise. Most devises, recorded events that
were activated by hard braking or impact. One vendor had a recording devise that
recorded continuously, all the time, all day long. The name of the company is Eye Patrol.
The Eye Patrol system is simple, compact and easy to use. So, I purchased the Eye Patrol unit. Everything is digitally, recorded on a SD memory card. I purchased a couple of these memory cards incase something happens; I can save that memory card and use another
one to keep recording. Another unique thing about the recorder is that it can be
programmed to record in a loop so that when it gets to the end of the memory card, it starts over automatically. At the beginning of my work shift, I turn on the Eye Patrol, press record
and that’s it until the end of the shift. At the end of the shift, I press stop and turn the unit off. Playback is just as simple with the use of a monitor.
The Eye Patrol recorder is a very small unit. Just, a little larger that a pack of cigarettes.
I have used this product for almost a year and I am very satisfied with it. When I have questions, Mr. Jon Oh has always been very thorough in making sure I am satisfied with Eye Patrol.
